EQM-402

EQM-402 ball mill for XRF sample preparation

Ball mill for homogenising samples and mixing them with a binder before XRF analysis — grinds brittle, hard and semi-hard materials to below 10 µm in 1–4 minutes.

The EQM-402 is a ball mill for homogenising the sample and mixing it with a binder ahead of XRF analysis. In a very short time it crushes, mixes and homogenises small volumes of material, and it is designed specifically for brittle, hard and semi-hard materials in volumes up to 50 ml. The mill can run with two grinding chambers at once, reducing grain from 0.8–1.5 mm to below 10 µm in 1 to 4 minutes. Such fine grinding gives better, faster homogenisation with the binder, and in a second step the mill serves as a sample–binder mixer. The prepared material can then be pressed in a manual or automatic press to obtain a smooth, uniform pellet for XRF and LIBS analysis. Operation is very simple thanks to a touchscreen.

Applications

  • Homogenising samples before XRF and LIBS analysis
  • Mixing the sample with a binder before pressing pellets
  • Brittle, hard and semi-hard materials
  • Geology, materials and industrial laboratories

What to ask about

Grinding to below 10 µm and even mixing with a binder translate into repeatable, high-quality pellets and therefore reliable XRF results. Contact us to match the grinding chambers and accessories to your samples.
